Solace Friends Inclusivity Statement

Every human being has the right to live and die in a dignified manner surrounded by compassion, respect, and love. This right exists regardless of culture, race, sexual orientation, gender identification, life choices, spiritual beliefs, background, socio-economic status, or contact with the justice system.

Solace Friends commits to providing end-of-life caregiving and a sense of belonging for individuals who feel marginalization, harm, and oppression within our current community and healthcare system. We strive to care for adults of all physical and cognitive abilities, and mental health needs. We will meet each person we care for where they are at and walk with them on their end of life journey. We will do this with respect, and humility. We commit to ensuring our residents receive person-centered end of life care from our hospice providers and community partners. This includes care that is responsive to each person’s specific and diverse needs.

To accomplish this, we will continually look within, exploring our unconscious and conscious biases, lack of knowledge, misunderstandings, and limited perspectives. Solace Friends will support and encourage our staff, volunteers, leaders, and board toward this goal by providing ongoing education, training, and skill building.

This is who we are and what we are about. To be a part of the Solace Friends mission means committing to this statement.
